Last year I had my 1966 Skylark entered in the Buick powered, non-GS/GSX/GN class. This year, I'm not really seeing what class my car fits under since it's not a GS and it's got a 455 in it, so I don't think it fits in the survivor class, because it's not an original paint, interior or drivetrain car. Anyone have any ideas?
Had not seen that. No class for my car unless they drop the GS/GSX requirement from street machine. I'll look into it with the show staff.
That is interesting, I thought mine would be in "street machine", but it's not a GS either. Guess I'll just leave it in the pits... Or do the "Buick racecar" class, but it's more a street car than a race car.
If anyone wants to be in the show, the show staff will put the car in the proper class. They usually look at each car anyway to determine where it fits. So, dont leave them in the pits. Put them in the show and share them with everyone.
I'm happy to share it anyway, I don't much care about judged classes etc. I usually just enter to help car counts or whatever. I'm sure they'll find a home for it, and if not I'll just park it nearby for the heck of it.
For the stock classes they usually allow a certain number of mods without having to go into the street machine class. What is this years rule for mods in the stock classes? Anyone know? I don't think they count gauges, hoses, or tire sizes as mods, though.
I posed the question to Sid Myers by FB Messenger. He was on when I sent it and the message got check as read but no response as of yet
Typically, up to 3 modifications can be had in stock class. I can't speak for this particular show, though. I've never been involved with it.
Not that I would be able to go, but it don't look like my '64 would have a spot since they don't list anything older than '65 and the GS option wasn't even available in '64.
Not so, Mike. Any car that's Buick powered is welcome at the drag strip and at the show, there is a class for all Buicks of any model.
Last year we had a 50s Buick in the class I was in. This year that class doesn't exist...yet. Briz has word out to someone in charge about it, should be resolved soon.
I'd venture this is correct. I think the wording for the class descriptions is not very well thought out, but I'd highly doubtful if you show up with a classic Buick of any model that you'd he turned away. I know I've seen models not listed above in prior year shows. I think they just got sloppy with the wording. But again, if nothing else, I'll just park mine nearby for the heck of it, I couldnt care less about judging and all that.
I'll be working the show in some capacity again this year and I guarantee you all my score sheets will be tally'd and double checked prior to turning them into the staff .
Ok guys heres the 411 straight from RL. Will need an answer for him in the next couple of days.
